Geochemical thermodynamic modelling provides the basis for understanding the chemistry of geothermal systems.  It allows the prediction of the chemistry of geothermal fluids that are flashed, cooled or mixed.   A number of different computer programs are available, each with special applications to different problems.  We have used this approach to predict sulphur formation in cooling water,  and changes in the composition of production and reinjection fluids following mixing, dosing, gas extraction and changes in temperature and pressure.

If the standard computer programs are not able to handle the problem, we can write specific code.  For instance, we have used purpose written computer code to recently predict the solubility of antimony sulfide in geothermal power plants under a wide range of conditions.
